Today we’d like to introduce you to Cedric Lauchner. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Cedric Lauchner’s personal mission is to love God, love family, love people preach/teach the gospel, and plant churches. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York Cedric has always demonstrated his love for God and family.
In 1997, he married his wife Chardel of 25 years and is a father to their four children three of which are triplets, In 2015 the passion and call to plant Dream Church in the Springfield neighborhood of Jacksonville, FL, began.
In September 2020 we officially launched Dream in the middle of the pandemic. We knew it was time and we were compelled to serve this community.
Springfield is the community God has called us to plant Dream Church. Dream church is a gospel and cross-centered church that points people to God through His son Jesus Christ. The neighborhood is going through a renaissance. We believe when there is physical change happening, there should be spiritual change happening as adequately within the community; we believe God is calling us to be a part of the transformation.
The family structure in the area can be described as extremely non-traditional due to the below-average presence of married persons and two-parent families. The overall education level in the area is particularly low. Although the facts are disheartening… this compels us as a church toward a loving God and gives us hope to exist and serve within a community that is full of life and growth. Hoisting us to a deeper commitment to being a church of family that empowers a community.
Diversity overall is very high in the area, based on the number of different lifestyles and racial/ethnic groups. 32 of the U.S. 50 lifestyle segments are represented in Springfield. Based on the total number of different groups present, the racial/ethnic diversity in the area is extremely high. We believe the church is called to be diverse. Calling us to represent biblical diversity within the community.
Understanding the demographic statistics there is hope and that’s why our core values align themselves with Springfield’s demographics, causing us to pursue the mission and vision of Dream Church.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Let me state that overall it has been good and smooth.
The struggle was navigating through the pandemic as a church. The new normal was actually normal for us with the challenges of not knowing if covid was going to attack the families that wanted to be a part of the gospel community.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I have been in the telecommunications industry since 1997. But for the last seven years, I’ve been an Outside Sales Business Representative for ADT Security.
I am super proud of being successful, and being able to regularly demonstrate integrity and good character as I sell and build relationships with our customers.
The thing that sets me apart is the fact that I enjoy what I do and enjoy meeting new people. I never meet new people, I serve family daily!
Who else deserves credit in your story?
My wife deserves credit first and foremost, she’s been my biggest cheerleader and has played a big role in my success in all areas of my life.
The many roles are Husband, Father, Pastor, and Employee. But as a husband success came from watching my grandfather and an older brother who has modeled marriage and fatherhood.
As a pastor, I had and still have many mentors… some key individuals for this season have been Robert Garrido, Elliot Grudem, Jeff Toomer, Bishop Vaughn McLaughlin, Jay Harris, and Daryn Kinney, and the many Network of Pastors I have outstanding friendships and associations with.
They all play major roles in my life currently.
